Northwoods Campus
Camp Thunderhead

Our third semester of the school year helps to eliminate the “summer slide” in learning that is common for urban students. While 1st-5th grade students attend summer school at our Milwaukee Campus, students in 6th-8th grade stay and learn at Camp Thunderhead. This rigorous dual session (four-week), residential, academic summer program is situated in the beauty of Wisconsin’s great Northwoods in Iron County, Wisconsin.

Camp Thunderhead is a unique student experience because:

  • It forms teamwork, fosters leadership, builds community, and supports faith development
  • Students and staff pray together, share reflections, and celebrate mass
  • Daily classes are given in math, language arts and natural sciences
  • Students read books daily and complete assessments with access to the camp’s library
  • Activities include swimming, soccer, volleyball, basketball, hiking, woodworking, biking, boating, fishing, and arts and crafts.
  • Campers live in mixed grade level cabins with counselor supervision
  • Nutritious meals are eaten together “family style”
  • “Deck meetings” throughout the day, meal prayers, traditional all-camp events, along with evening campfires and cabin meetings foster character growth and faith formation
